A fully self-guided adventure hike through diverse terrain and forest, as hikers navigate their way through some of the most iconic sights of the K'gari Great Walk Track. We provide 4wd transfers, hiking backpacks and equipment. Hikers organise their own lightweight food and carry all equipment.

Embark on your own terms with a self-guided hike on K'gari
An adventure hike is a self-guided hiking experience, with no outside help or support, for adventurers who want to carry their own backpacks! It's a great way to experience the true beauty of K'gari your way!
- Hikers carry 70Lt hiking packs with all food and utilities (e.g. tents, cookers).
- Include a 4WD transfer to the pickup and or drop off locations.
- Do not include any outside help or support during the hike.
- Group numbers range from min 2 to max 6 people, hiking alone is not recommended (however if you are a solo hiker you may book onto a hike if it already has a minimum of 2 people - this is not guaranteed).
- Hiking equipment provided (e.g. backpack, tent)
- All hikes run from March to October
- Bush drop toilets, no showers, no electricity

What is included?
All cooking equipment needed
We will supply you with all the equipment needed for you to be cooking under the stars! e.g. gas cookers, bowls, cups etc.
Barge and 4WD transfers
From Hervey Bay to K'gari and to the meeting points on the Great Walk track.
70Ltr Hiking Pack
We will provide you with a hiking pack to place all your belongings in.
camp Supplies
We will supply you with a 2 person tent and a sleeping mat for you to take a load off after a days hike!
Maps
We will provide you with all maps and itineraries when we first meet for you to follow!

Hiker information, safety briefing, and walkers camp permits are included.
What to bring?
Suitable SHOES
We will be on our feet a lot, it is important to ensure you have hiking boots that are good quality, with ankle support. You could also bring walking poles if needed.
Clothes
Small amount of personal belongings (including hat, sun-glasses, swimmers, lightweight clothing, long sleeve shirt)
Portable Charger
Portable charger to charge phone/ camera as there will be no access to electricity on the island.
Food
Lightweight food for all days on the hike.
Personal toiletries
Such as prescribed medicines, general medicine as approved by your Doctor ie. Aspirin, paracetamol.
First Aid
This includes a water purification kit, small first ait kit, sunscreen, insect repellent.
Torch
Head torch is recommended (we provide small lanterns around camp)
Water Bottle
Larger (1.5ltr) bottle to carry water.

Safety
At K'gari Walking Tours we take safety seriously, we know that K'gari is a remote wilderness, with limited mobile coverage and precautions that need to be undertaken. This is why we don't let hikers walk solo, we ensure our hikers stay in groups and always have eyes on each other. We also provide adventure hikes with the SPOT GEN 3 which is a satellite GPS messenger, that can send updated locational information back to base or be activated in an emergency situation.
